The greatest reset around happens every year at this time, it’s called New Year’s Day. This annual reset also known as the New Year’s Resolution is way of helping us to restart each year and improve our lives. That’s why the world has that giant party at the end of the year so that you can forget your troubles by going into that deep sleep and hopefully wake up with a new vision for the New Year. The New Year’s Resolution has become something of a joke to most, much of that due to the failure of success of the resolutions. It may also be due to the fact that the resolution was made during a drunken moment. Needless to say most don’t put much stock in yelling out their new goals at the top of their lungs, but maybe there is something that we should take more seriously.

Assuming that you were serious when making your resolution then you have chosen the perfect time of the year to make the change, no matter what it is you would like to change. Now you could start your changes in the middle of the year as many do, but that is often harder because you don’t have the psychological advantage of the calendar year. That’s what makes this time of year the best for change because you have the psychological benefit of the change in calendar, seasons, personal time over the holidays, and downtime from the job to help you relax. All of that builds up to the one day when you can make changes in your life for the better.

So, if you are not sure how to get started let me give you a little help in that area. Of course the first thing is to decide on is the change you want to make, try not to have too many, concentrate on one change at a time. Under that change make a list of steps that are required to make the change happen. Based on the number of steps you have, decide on the timeline for the change to be complete and add a date to your list of when everything will be completed. Now break down the steps into daily, weekly, or monthly steps that you can mark off complete as you achieve them. Here is where the whole New Year’s Resolution thing goes wrong: people yell it out to everyone and as soon as they are caught off track they give up. Once you have made your list, if you want to tell someone to help you stay on track then find someone you can trust that will keep you going in the right direction and offer support when you veer off track. We all go off track and you will too, but keeping those goals in sight and keeping on course will bring you the success you are seeking. Good luck with the goals and remember you can do it!
